A new paradigm to cool the planet

Farm Writers Lunch

Friday 26 February

We’re back in person for our regular monthly lunches!

The Mulloon Institute is supporting farmers across the country to rehydrate and restore their land - building soil carbon, increasing vegetation cover and boosting biodiversity.

Join Farm Writers on 26 February to hear how its efforts are building resilience to drought, bushfire and flood, as well as helping to cool the planet.

Healthy landscapes store water and build resilience for extreme weather conditions, while healthy soil is the lifeblood of agriculture.

The Mulloon Institute is aiming to rehydrate and rehabilitate 2.5 million hectares of agricultural land and to improve the resilience, productivity and profitability of more than 5,000 farming families through its works, advice and support.

Chair and former Eden-Monaro MP Gary Nairn AO, and CEO Carolyn Hall, will discuss the organisation’s history and the current projects being undertaken by its team of scientists, hydrologists and researchers.

Regenerative agriculture practices can improve the rate at which carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere and converted into plant material and/or soil organic matter and has the potential to turn the sector from a net emitter of carbon dioxide to a net sequester.

The Mulloon Institute is a leading research, education and advocacy organisation committed to building resilient rural and regional communities by supporting the long-term, sustainable growth of Australian agriculture.
