    Farm Writers Lunch

Farmers, (aviation) fuel and the flying kangaroo

    Friday 25 July 2025

    12:00 for 12:30pm

What's next for regional aviation? It isn’t just about getting from A to B - flying to and from regional Australia is about sustaining communities, supporting industries, and navigating the realities of infrastructure and sustainability.

QantasLink, the regional carrier of the Qantas Group, plays a vital role in connecting Australians across remote and rural areas. Beyond transport, it facilitates access to healthcare, education and essential services, while enabling regional tourism and economic development.

As the aviation sector accelerates toward net-zero emissions, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) - which is increasingly derived from Australian agricultural products - offers a promising path forward.

We’re excited to welcome Rachel Yangoyan, CEO of QantasLink, to explore the future of SAF and the realities of airport infrastructure and regional operations - what’s next for regional aviation, and what it means for the communities and industries it serves.

Rachel was appointed CEO of QantasLink in November 2023. She was previously Executive Manager Qantas Aircraft Programs, overseeing the entry into service of the airline's new aircraft, including QantasLink's Airbus A220.

Between 2019 and 2022 Rachel was the Executive Manager of Customer Experience and Operations, responsible for cabin crew and international airports. Since joining the Group in 2003, she has also held senior positions in airports and loyalty, as well as serving in customer, revenue management and strategy roles for QantasLink between 2007 and 2012.

Rachel has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Bookings close Wednesday 23 July 2025. Tables of 8-10 guests can be reserved at this lunch.

Corporate members may book unlimited guests at the member price. Other members may book one guest at the member price. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Agribuzz at AgQuip, hosted by Case IH

    Tuesday, 19 August 2025

    3pm to 5pm

We're heading back to Gunnedah for another fabulous Agribuzz event at the AgQuip Field Days, hosted by Case IH.

Our guest speaker will be David Statham, the co-founder of FibreTrace Technologies and co-owner of the Sundown Pastoral Company and Good Earth Cotton. He'll share some 'sliding door' moments that helped develop his passion to transform the fashion supply chain.

Agribuzz is a 'smart casual' event providing professional networking and development opportunities in a relaxed atmosphere.

This is a great opportunity to catch up socially with people attending the AgQuip field days, including those who don't always have an opportunity to attend Agribuzz.

Agribuzz provides the opportunity for our members and friends to exchange business intelligence and ideas over drinks and canapés, enjoy a brief presentation, and mingle with their peers. Those establishing their careers can talk to agribusiness leaders over a drink while those on the look-out for talent can meet aspiring leaders-in-the-making.

David Statham co-founded FibreTrace Technologies with his wife Danielle. Together they have created one of the world’s most renowned sustainable agricultural enterprises.

Since 1984 David has been at the forefront of innovation in agricultural technology and the application of regenerative farming techniques. This has resulted in the Sundown Pastoral Company being recognised as one of Earth's most efficient and environmentally ethical agricultural enterprises, being the world’s first carbon positive cotton farm.

David’s vision is to work in harmony with nature and believes regenerative farming techniques can create a better and healthier planet for generations ahead. He is driven daily to leave the planet and its culture a better place for future generations.

David believes that brands need to be connected to the farms they rely on to supply their cotton - and in turn trace the product all the way to the shelf. Creating a supply chain with full visibility that ensures true long term sustainability is the way to achieving this goal.

Registrations close on Wednesday 13 August. Please note any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
